Trina Storage unveils Elementa, an industry-leading LFP battery cabinet at Intersolar
Trina Solar’s new energy storage arm makes its debut at Europe’s premier solar event
    2021.10.05

Trina Storage, the global energy storage business launched by Trina Solar earlier this year, will unveil a new, utility-scale smart energy storage system that cuts CAPEX by over 5% at Intersolar Europe. Trina Storage Elementa is a fully-integrated and modular smart storage solution with a simple plug-in concept that allows operators to connect multiple units easily and flexibly, enabling even the biggest energy projects to scale up their storage as required. Elementa’s standardized design and factory-installed configuration helps reduce installation times by up to 70%, and is designed to make on-site installation significantly simpler, leading to lower CAPEX. This year marks Trina Storage’s debut at Intersolar Europe, a leading solar event, after the business was founded in February this year. Trina Storage engineers innovative solutions for solar and storage, including standalone grid services and other applications for large industrial and microgrid projects.

The company draws from Trina Solar’s long-standing solar heritage and industry know-how to solve the technical challenges of IPPs (Independent Power Producers), Developers and EPCs (Engineering Procurement Construction) in the rapidly transforming renewable energy landscape. Trina Storage will also be presenting the success of the recent 50 MW grid-scale battery storage project at Burwell, Cambridgeshire in the United Kingdom, which is owned by SMS plc. Trina Storage was engaged by the smart energy infrastructure company to supply a full Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), one of the first projects of its kind in the UK. Once operational, the BESS will provide the UK’s National Grid with balancing services to ensure best-in-class frequency response, flexibility, and demand management.

“The generation of solar energy will rise exponentially in the years to come, and this will spur even greater demand for storage solutions to smooth out imbalances and ensure all generation is captured and used,” said Terry Chen, Head of Overseas Energy Storage Business at Trina Storage. “Since we launched earlier this year, Trina Storage has been at the forefront of storage innovation, with our engineers developing flexible, highly-scalable solutions that solve those challenges, in terms of costs, quality, safety & efficiency. “We’re proud to be showcasing Elementa and our first BESS project at Intersolar Europe in front of the world’s leading renewable energy experts, demonstrating our role in leading the energy transition through storage.” Intersolar Europe 2021 is being held in Messe München, Munich, from October 6-8. Trina Storage will be exhibiting at Stand A6.470. To arrange one-on-one briefing with the Trina Storage team at the event, please contact the press office.
