Trina Solar is at the forefront of meeting the significant increase in global demand for PV with its innovative Vertex S+ family of modules. Currently available in two main configurations, these modules are designed to deliver high performance while at the same time improving sustainability with a reduced carbon footprint.
The dual glass monofacial configuration, known as the NEG9R.28, boasts a maximum power output of 450 watts. On the other hand, the dual glass bifacial configuration offers a maximum power output of 440 watts, plus additional energy yield from the rear side of the cells, depending on the mounting situation.
Key features of Vertex S+ product line
Extended warranty
One of the standout features of the Vertex S+ modules is their extended warranty period. Trina Solar offers a 25-year product warranty and a 30-year performance warranty. This significantly improves the guaranteed lifetime of the product.
Lower degradation profile
In addition to their robustness, the Vertex S+ modules also have a lower degradation profile thanks to both their n-type i-TOPCon cells and their robust dual-glass structure. This means they maintain their performance better over time, leading to higher energy production.
Great compatibility
Their low short-circuit current makes them compatible with a wide range of inverters and optimizers. This flexibility allows for seamless integration into various solar power systems, making them a versatile choice for different solar projects.
Ease of installation
Weighing in at 21.0 kilograms and with a surface area of less than two square metres, these modules are easy to handle and install, reducing the time and effort required for installation.
The following section features several commonly asked questions and their answers for the Vertex S+ product line
How does the Clear Black NEG9RC.27 look on rooftops?
Trina Solar’s Vertex S+ 440W is a clear and bifacial solar panel that not only performs excellently but also looks great, especially on black rooftops. Its sleek and modern design blends seamlessly with the roof, making it almost indistinguishable from a distance. This product is a more premium, higher quality offering in the black rooftop category, providing both aesthetic appeal and superior performance. We have images to showcase how well it integrates with the rooftop, reinforcing its premium appearance.
What’s the weight of the Clear Black product?
Despite its advanced features and superior performance, the Vertex S+ 440W is practically the same weight (21kg) as our previous rooftop products like the all black Vertex S panels. In fact it is even 0.8 kg lighter. This makes it easy for rooftop installers to handle safely, ensuring a smooth and efficient installation process. The weight of the module has been carefully optimised to provide the best balance between durability, performance, and ease of installation.
What are the differences between the two Vertex S+ modules?
The main difference between the two Vertex S+ modules is the white and transparent rear encapsulants. NEG9R.28, with its white rear encapsulant has a slightly higher power output of 450W, than NEG9RC.27’s 440W. However, the NEG9RC.27 is a bifacial module with a clear design which gives a premium aesthetic on black rooftops. The module has a bifaciality of 85% making it ideal for applications like carports, sunroofs and places where light can be absorbed from the front and rear of the module.
How do Vertex S+ modules perform in cold and low light conditions?
Trina Solar panels are designed to perform well in a variety of conditions, including regions with high snow loads and low sunlight. Here are some key points to consider:
-
Wind loads: High durability tested to a 4,000 Pa wind load with a resilient design, robust construction that’s secure against strong winds.
-
Snow loads: At 5,400 Pa snow load, Trina Solar panels are tested to withstand significant snow loads adhering to IEC test standards (more information in the datasheet). The panels are designed to shed snow effectively, and the weight of accumulated snow should not pose a problem. However, heavy snowfall can temporarily reduce the production of solar energy as the panels get covered.
-
Low sunlight: Trina Solar panels are also designed to perform well in low-light conditions. They use advanced solar cell technology that can capture and convert more sunlight into electricity, even on cloudy or overcast days.
-
Performance in Nordic countries: The performance of solar panels in Nordic countries or regions with similar weather conditions can be quite good. The cooler temperatures can actually enhance solar panel behavior, as they tend to perform better in cooler conditions. The long summer days in these regions can also provide more hours of sunlight for solar energy production. Furthermore, Vertex S+ module provides an excellent incident angle modifier (IAM) profile, which makes it even more suitable for northern latitudes.
-
Performance in Scotland & Ireland: Similarly, in regions like Scotland and Ireland, where there is often low cloud cover and lower light from the sun, Trina Solar panels can still perform effectively. The advanced technology used in these panels allows them to get better light trapping.
However, it's important to note that the overall performance of solar panels can be influenced by many factors, including the angle and orientation of the panels, local weather conditions, and the amount of sunlight received throughout the year.
