In Antwerp, Belgium, Amazon’s first distribution centre in the country is setting new standards in sustainability with the help of a solar power installation by Linea Trovata. Situated in the innovative Blue Gate business park—a former oil industry site transformed into a model of eco-efficiency—the centre is designed with sustainability in mind. Featuring 385 Trinasolar Vertex S modules, the photovoltaic system generates a remarkable 787,000 kWh annually, directly contributing to Amazon’s ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040.

The facility itself spans multiple spaces: a 5,764 m² warehouse, a 517 m² mezzanine, 2,157 m² of office space, and a vast 40,000 m² parking area. This distribution centre’s design is a testament to advanced green building practices, built to meet BREEAM Excellent standards—the gold benchmark for sustainable construction in Europe.

Beyond the solar installation, the building has integrated a range of energy-saving systems. A digital building management system optimises heating, ventilation, and cooling, while energy-efficient LED lighting and a rainwater harvesting network further enhance sustainability. By prioritising self-sustained energy and minimising waste, this project underscores Amazon's commitment to a more sustainable future.

Trinasolar is proud to contribute to this forward-thinking project, supporting tangible steps toward reducing environmental impact through clean energy and smart building innovations.
