    Utility

The Citizen Solar Park in Bundorf, Germany sets a new benchmark in sustainable energy, with its 125 MWp capacity making it the largest citizen-owned solar park in Bavaria and one of the largest in Germany. This impressive installation, developed by MaxSolar in collaboration with EGIS eG, is expected to generate over 131 million kilowatt hours annually—enough to power approximately 37,500 households. Additionally, it reduces CO₂ emissions by around 90,000 tonnes each year, contributing significantly to Germany’s clean energy goals.

This project is not just about producing power; it embodies a broader vision for a sustainable, community-centred future. As part of Bundorf’s transformation into an 'energy village', the park supports a district heating network and multiple electric vehicle charging stations. Local residents can also actively participate by buying shares through EGIS eG, promoting a collaborative and inclusive approach to renewable energy.

Environmental integration was a key focus of the project. Thoughtful landscaping and habitat creation around the solar park help protect local biodiversity, making it a model for sustainable solar design.

Trinasolar’s 232,000 Vertex dual-glass bifacial modules were selected to power this ambitious project. Known for their reliability and efficiency, these high-performance modules offer low levelised cost of energy through enhanced output. The dual-glass design increases energy yield by capturing sunlight on both sides, making them a resilient choice for large-scale installations like Bundorf.

The Bundorf Citizen Solar Park stands as a testament to what communities can achieve when they invest in clean energy, combining local empowerment with environmental stewardship.
