Oregon is calling on its utility companies to move away from coal and increase their use of clean, renewable energy.

The state legislature passed a bill requiring the state’s investor-owned utility companies to source at least 50 percent of their electricity from wind and solar by 2040. This marks a significant increase from the state’s current renewable portfolio standard of 25 percent. Oregon’s standard will be the fifth-most ambitious program in the country, after Hawaii, Vermont, California and New York.

As the world’s largest solar manufacturer, Trina Solar is committed to propelling the growth of renewable energy for a more sustainable future. Check back soon for more news from Trina.
